Fresh from the Cornish coast… look what’s just pulled up at Riverside!
07th December 2009

Last week, on Wednesday 2nd December, shoppers at Riverside were surprised by the arrival on of a VW camper van. The mystery van is actually Britain’s leading Cornish pasty retailer West Cornwall Pasty Company which opened its hatch for business on Friday lunchtime.
The surfer style van is one of only three custom-built units and will be located at Riverside Shopping Centre for six months. An unmissable feature in the Centre, the van is decked out in the traditional Cornish colours of black and gold and shoppers will be able to experience a true taste of Cornwall from a selection of West Cornwall Pasty Co’s finest traditional pasties, which are handmade in Cornwall and freshly baked on the premises every day.
Joanna Hall, Centre Manager, said: “We are all really excited to have The West Cornwall Pasty Company van on site, especially as it is one of only three vans in the whole country. We’re sure people will love the pasties as the company is a huge success with shoppers up and down the country.”
West Cornwall Pasty Co chief executive Richard Nieto said: “We’re delighted to be open for business at Riverside. We are proud of our Cornish roots and very much want to enable those outside of Cornwall to experience traditional Cornish pasties first hand. Pasties represent the original convenience food and we’re certain ours will be a real hit with local residents and visitors alike here in Hemel Hempstead.”
